The board of directors for the Houston GLBT Community Center has announced a new home for the center. According to Tim Brookover, center president, a lease has been signed for space in the Historic Dow School in the Old Sixth Ward Historic District, located between Montrose and the Heights/West End.

The 1912 Historic Dow School, located at 1900 Kane Street, also houses MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts), an arts and culture organization that serves Latino youth and families. The center is set to occupy the Lubbock Wing of the building at the corner of Silver and Lubbock streets, with the entrance on Silver Street.

Individuals interested in helping the center prepare for the move are asked to e-mail
