Edgardo Martinez, Victim of Hit-and-Run Accident
A local gay man, Edgardo Martinez, was fatally wounded on January 18, 2011, after suffering injuries when hit by a car and thrown into the side of a Metro train near the Reliant Center at about 5:45 a.m. that morning. The accident was a hit and run, and the driver fled the scene. Edgardo died on January 20 at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Someone may know the location of a car with recent front-end damage and possibly the identity of the driver. Anyone with information about this case may contact the Houston Police Department at 713.884.3131.
Edgardo was a member of Bethel Church UCC, one of the open-and-affirming congregations in our community (and a partner with the Center on our monthly Center Seniors & Friends Potluck). Edgardo also participated in twelve-step meetings at the Lambda Center.

I’ve known Junior since high school and was deeply saddened to learn of his demise. It makes me angry to learn he was killed in a hit and run.
To the bastard who did this, karma is a bitch.
