Legacy Community Health Services traces its roots back to Montrose Clinic, established in 1981 as a public service by the gay community for the gay community. Originally organized to provide testing for STDs, Montrose Clinic was inadvertently poised to become Houston’s first and continuing response team to the AIDS epidemic.
