Transgendered Employee Hired and Fired in 5 Hours

Lincoln, CA (KTXL) — The sign on the window of Massage Envy in Lincoln says “No Hiring,” but 19-year-old Ariel Hawkins says that wasn’t the case.
On April 24, Ariel, born Andrew, was hired to be a sign swinger. After the offer was made, Ariel was honest and told the manager she was transgender.

“I had told the manager I was a male to female transgender and that I was going to be starting hormones soon,” Hawkins told FOX40. Four and a half hours later, Ariel says the job offer was pulled via telephone.
“They told me that I did not need to come in on my first day of work and that they had replaced me with a different candidate in the company’s best interest,” Ariel told FOX40.
A few days after that, Ariel received a letter from Massage Envy in the mail. Inside was another letter confirming her termination and two checks, totaling just over $100. Ariel said she never worked a single hour for Massage Envy.
Hawkins believes she was fired because of her honesty and sexual orientation, even though the Massage Envy handbook she was given when she was hired has a specific clause about discrimination.
Hawkins plans on filing a lawsuit against Massage Envy for discrimination.
FOX40 tried to reach the manager at Massage Envy who hired, then fired Hawkins, but never heard back.

Shelly go back and read the article. She didn’t misrepresent herself. But 4.5hrs after she was hired she received a phone call with a termination. It may be a money grab – thats up to the court to decide. Please apply some reading comprehension before critically attacking.
Gee…think somebody’s out looking for lawsuits instead of a job?! This person mis-represented him/her self to the company in the beginning. He/she should have been totally up front and open during the very first conversation he/she had with the company when they called to have him/her come in to do the paperwork. At the very least he/she should’ve told them first thing after walking through those doors, NOT four and a half hours later! Sorry, but it sounds suspicious to me…
Also-I don’t have any problem with he becoming a she. My problem is it seems to me that he/she is hunting down lawsuits. They’re MUCH more lucrative then twirling signs. Shame on him/her for this frivolous lawsuit. I hope he/she loses.
