After two years of claiming that his views were “evolving,” President Obama said on Wednesday that he has finally reached a conclusion and supports same-sex marriage. Obama’s public endorsement is an important step in the right direction, but it does not undo the fact that he has a mixed record on gay rights.

Drink & Drag is expected to become a major draw for Downtown Las Vegas and will be opening on the second level of the Neonopolis (450 Fremont St., Ste 250), a 250000-square-foot entertainment complex and shopping center. Located in the former Jillian’s space, Drink & Drag is neighbored by the much buzzed Heart Attack Grill and overlooks the neon courtyard. With over 24 full-time drag queens, Drink & Drag may very well be the largest employer of drag queens in the United States.

The Mucky Duck is hosting a benefit for Houstonian Christi Ayo, a longtime supporter of the local music scene. Ayo left Hollywood and a job as co-producer of James Belushi’s sitcom According to Jim in 2007 to return home to care for her elderly mother. Now Ayo is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and friends, including Tracy Newman, are organizing a benefit at The Mucky Duck on May 6 starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 with all proceeds going to the Ayo fund.

Six gay couples who are suing Montana for the benefits that married couples have asked the state Supreme Court on Friday to rule that denying those benefits is an unconstitutional violation of their equal protections.
