Dining Out for Life returns to benefit AIDS Foundation Houston.
Restaurants throughout Houston are uniting in the fight against HIV and AIDS on Thursday, April 30, by donating a portion of their day's receipts as part of AIDS Foundation Houston's Dining Out for Life. “Dining Out for Life is an easy way to show support for AFH and the clients we serve,” says Kelly McCann, AFH's chief executive officer. “Thanks to the generous partnership of the 33 participating restaurants, all you have to do is go out to eat as you normally do, and the restaurants donate at least one third of the proceeds to AFH. “So maybe order dessert, too!” McCann adds. Internationally, more than 2,800 restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds each year to an AIDS service organization in their city, culminating in a $3 million one-day, multi-national donation. Last year, Houston restaurants donated more than $50,000 in support for AFH's programs and services providing housing, case management, and food assistance for Houston's nearly 5,000 HIV-positive men, women, and children. This year, diners have the opportunity to register throughout the day at any of the DOFL participating restaurants for raffle prizes including first-class tickets from Continental Airlines, iPods, jewelry, gift certificates, and more.
