Out of Town: Great White North
Escape to Canada for a new gay/lesbian ski weekend.
By Victor Zorn
Four reasons to love our neighbor to the north:
1. Same-gender nuptials, sanctioned last month by the Canadian Supreme Court
2. www.marryanamerican.ca/
3. Catherine O’Hara
4. Powder & Pride, the new gay-and-lesbian ski weekend at Lake Louise
The inaugural Powder & Pride will take place January 21–23 at the Lake Louise region located in Banff National Park in Alberta (www.skilouise.com). In addition to downhill and cross-country skiing and boarding, activities include the Saturday-night Winter Wonderland Ball.
Packages are $539 Canadian and include two nights at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (booking: 866/840-8357, www.fairmont.com/lakelouise), ski-lift passes, and tickets to the ball. Some Powder & Pride proceeds will benefit AIDS Calgary Awareness Association and Canadian Breast Cancer Association.
