The Gay Agenda – July
-
Modern Art.
Openly gay artist Christopher Olivier is one of 30 photographers whose work is featured this month at Houston Center for Photography’s 29th Annual Juried Membership Exhibition. More than 200 artists submitted pieces for inclusion in the show, which features Olivier’s Diamonday (2009). Look closely—yes, it is an aerial view of a cityscape, but it’s made entirely of electronic components imbedded on a circuit board. “This photographic process begins with several original photos of circuit boards,” says Olivier, who also creates under the name “Bexar.” “I then sample out specific parts chosen for color and brightness, and place them into a new landscape, arranging the shapes to create an illusion from reality.” Electrifying!
