Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza

FreeChrist the King Evangelical Lutheran church invites you to the 2017 Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza on Saturday, Aug. 12. This year’s theme is Stewardship. This free environmental educational offering has activities for all ages. Adults can attend interactive lectures addressing the theme by a variety of experts, considering everything from air to water to plants & animals. Kids (or kids & accompanying adults) can enjoy fun & educational environmental activities. Nursery care for kids under 5 will be provided. Exhibits by local environmental nonprofits will offer more opportunities to learn and engage. The event begins at 10 a.m. with the first lecture and start of kids’ activities. From noon – 2 p.m., exhibits will be open and kid’s activities continue. Lectures resume at 2 p.m. and the event ends at 5 p.m. The 2017 Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza takes place at Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Rice Blvd. and Greenbriar in Houston. Parking is available for $1 at the Rice University lot across the street from the church. Metro bus stops for lines 27, 41, 65, and 84 are nearby. • 11 a.m. Stewardship of the Plants: Jaime Gonzalez, Community Conservation Director, Katy Prairie Conservancy
• 12 – 2 p.m. Exhibit of Local Environmental Non-Profit Organizations (with kids’ activities in the exhibit hall) & lunch available from 006 Pizza food truck (vegan/vegetarian options available)
• 2 p.m. Stewardship of the Animals: Jennifer Boley, Executive Director, Nature & Eclectic Outdoors
• 3 p.m. Stewardship of the Waters: Bruce Bodson, Executive Director, Galveston Baykeeper
• 4 p.m. Stewardship of the Air: Dr. Bakeyah Nelson, Executive Director, Air Alliance Houston
Throughout the day: outdoor-themed Kids/Family Fun with Nature & Eclectic Outdoors, including a mock campsite, lawn fishing, lifesize games, drydock kayaking & more!
