Musiqa presents the LOFT concert, “Angel Otero: Everything and Nothing”
Thursday, February 9, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
Join us for a free and informal performance of modern classical music presented in connection with the exhibition “Angel Otero: Everything and Nothing”. The evening features works by (mostly) Puerto Rico-born composers. They include: the infectious rhythms of “Bong-O” and “Tres Pensamientos” by Roberto Sierra, a former student of György Ligeti; the dynamic and ritualistic “Como si fuera la primavera” by Carlos Carrillo-Cotto; William Ortiz Alvarado’s “Soneo de la 22”, a virtuosic tour-de-force for solo cello; Javier Álvarez’s solo percussion work, “Temazcal”; and “Four Preludes for Two Clarinets” by Musiqa composer Marcus Karl Maroney. “Angel Otero: Everything and Nothing” is presented in collaboration with the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.
Featuring:
Natalie Hoe, clarinet; John Walters, clarinet/bass clarinet; Thomas Frey, bass clarinet; Max Geissler, cello; Brandon Bell, percussion; Craig Hauschildt, percussion
