Thursday Night Concerts
Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs, with Amanda Cevallos and The High Hands Band
on the Anheuser-Busch Stage
Thursday September 14, 2017
7pm-9pm
Los Texmaniacs call themselves the Kings of Tex-Mex, and it’s hard to argue with their exuberant rock/jazz/conjunto fusion music. The band’s founder, Max Baca, is a world-class virtuoso on the bajo sexto, a 12-stringed Latin cousin of the guitar that provides the foundational rich bass for the conjunto sound. Fast polkitas, rockabilly rhythms, and slide-guitar ballads will keep you dancing on the hill from the first set to the last.
Opening for Los Texmaniacs is Houston-native Amanda Cevallos, with her band The High Hands. Cevallos is known for her witty lyrics and sultry old-country style. Willie Nelson, Ernest Tubb, and Dolly Parton are among her favorite musical influences. Between Cevallos’ honky-tonk style and Los Texmaniacs’ conjunto-rock, it’s sure to be a toe-tapping night!
Thursday Night Concerts are free to attend and are open to the public. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome; food, beer and wine are available for purchase at The Lake House. No glass containers or outside alcoholic beverages, please. Share your experience with #dgconcerts and #discoverygreen.
Thursday Night Concerts is presented by Green Mountain Energy Company, and co-sponsored by Cactus Music, KPRC2 / Click2Houston and Saint Arnold Brewing Company. This event is part of the XFINITY Entertainment Series.
