Jan Golden Studio & Gallery is delighted to present PURPOSEFUL, an exhibition of new work by gallery artist Jan Golden. Golden is a Houston based, LGBTQ+ visual artist who chronicles the world around her through abstract photography and various mixed-media techniques, including encaustic and collage. In her PURPOSEFUL collection, Jan explores detailed textures, upcycled materials, and vivid color palettes combined in abstract, mosaic-like encaustic assemblages. Golden is an intuitive artist who holds a BA in Art from St. Andrews University, Laurinburg, NC. A constant seeker of knowledge, she has continued studies at the Atlanta College of Art, Spruill Arts Center in Atlanta, and the Glassell School of Art, Houston. Golden was awarded Outreach United’s Artist of the Year 2018, was recognized as 2017 Artist of the Year in the John Palmer Escapist Program, and has also been a Runner-Up and Finalist for Out▼Smart’s Gayest & Greatest. Golden’s artwork has been exhibited throughout the South and held in numerous private and corporate collections both local and internationally. The artist will be in attendance at the opening reception on Saturday, October 22nd.
